3. Ferraro finishes the worlds toughest foot race

Mere hours ahead of Badwater 135, Nathan Ferraro called his mother. She was worried sick. Her son was one of just 100 ultrarunners invited to participate in the world’s toughest foot race across the California desert. Battling heat, fatigue and sometimes injury, racers began at 282 feet below sea level in Badwater Basin. Their destination lay 135 scorching miles away on Mt. Whitney at 8,360 feet above.
